Howdee. My name is Steve Bean. I’m an artist, web developer, flash animator and all around nice guy.
I have been fortunate enough to find a job that does not require me to be in an office, so with that and my 2011 Subaru, I am traveling the U.S. in search of the fantastic vistas of national parks and try to capture it in a painting.
I have a whole bunch of national parks that I missed on my 1996 cross-country trip. And now, I am going to see them and paint them. In 15 years I have developed a paint style that I am trying to combine the fluid elegance of the Sumi-e / Chinese brush style with the thick expressive impasto style. I still have a ways to go, but it is coming along. And I’m going to devote this trip to further develop it. Please feel free to take a look at my site and let me know what you think. Art really needs an audience and artists need feedback. I am open to constructive criticism.
I have created this blog to share my progress with anyone who is interested and to share some of the wisdom I have accrued on the road. Enjoy.
Dude your trip sounds rad. Good luck. I look forward to following your travels.

Hi Steve !
When Deb finished her piano lesson (her second one!) on Saturday, I asked how
your trip was going — and she referred me to your website. What fabulous
photos you are taking — breathtaking! I started reading your blog and then got addicted…. read every word of your impressions so far and looked at all your pictures. All I can say is …… “WOW!”
I happened to have a friend visiting who echoed that sentiment….. and remarked that her daughter Rindy would be SO jealous —- and would truly love to see your blog/pictures. She has done a lot of wilderness stuff herself, hiking, camping etc. and was planning a trip to the national parks last summer — but sadly it didn’t work out. I know she would be interested in your paintings too (she is an art teacher at a private school outside of Boston !) Her own major was sculpture, but she has done all kinds of art. I took the liberty of giving her mom your website….. so in case you hear from a person named Rindy Garner ,
that’s who she is !!!
You mentioned that you are seeing snow out there…..perfect for Christmas! We haven’t seen a flake since that freaky snowstorm in October. It would be nice to have a bit for the holiday !
We wish you all the blessings of Christmas — wherever you may be!
Love, Linda
